Hyundai Kona and Veloster recalled

Hyundai has recalled its 2018-20 Kona and Veloster as a defective part in the engine could lead to the vehicle stalling.

“The piston rings assembled in engines may be defective, which can cause damage to the piston rings and cylinder bore and impact engine performance,” the company says in its recall notice.

“A damaged engine may result in the vehicle staling and/or engine oil leaking. This increases the risk of an accident and/or vehicle fire causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users or damage to property.”

  • A total of 9952 vehicles are affected

Hyundai advises owners to pay attention to any abnormal knocking noise from the engine.

If you hear such a noise, you are advised not to drive the vehicle and to contact a Hyundai dealership for a free inspection or repair.

Hyundai is contacting owners once parts become available.
